Ridgeway Shanondale soup bowls made in the 1830's

Red and White Transferware

Size: 8 inches

Sold as a set of eight.

This rare Shanondale WR Ridgeways Red Transferware pattern is a stunning addition to any table setting! Iconic and timelessly beautiful, these soup bowls from England are in great condition.

Soup bowls with the Shannondale pattern have an intricate landscape scene, and cabbage rose accents, painted in striking red and white transferware make these bowls extraordinary.

The legacy of the Ridgway family spanned over two centuries, with a multitude of relatives dominating the Staffordshire pottery industry. In its peak during the mid-19th century, various branches of this influential dynasty ran several different prestigious Potteries that all specialized in earthenware products boasting superior quality and craftsmanship. Notably, they also produced stoneware and bone china wares to equally impressive standards.

Transferware made before 1920 usually has 'England' printed on the back. After 1920 the mark is 'Made In England'.  The marking of WR on the back cites that this was produced by William Ridgway and his brother.
